This year
there will be more attention
to the fabrics against my skin
to the companion that is tea
and the miracle of the mug’s solidity in my hand

there will be more fresh flowers
and slow cooked meals
and decisions made for comfort

there will be surrender to everything that curves

there will be homecoming

of a different sort
to the original mother
who is the original father
who is the original text
and the original ground

this one, that we can touch.

I would love to hear in the comments what it feels like this year will be about for you — what you are longing for and drawn toward. (Did you know – what you are longing for and what you are drawn toward is also already emerging in you?)

Love you,

Tara

This year, my focus is going to be on consistency. I am very good and being just the right employee, just the right Mother, just the right daughter… but I lose my way, I get tired, I get depressed. I feel inferior to my siblings and it affects me in ways nothing else can. I need to be the same Mom, with the same rules, the same hugs and support – day in and day out. I want to model behaviour for my girls that I can be proud of. And so can they.

    Lovely Tara,

In a week where the vibe is about changing who we are, becoming “better” versions of ourselves and reconstructing ourselves to be more externally successful, it is lovely to relax into what is already, and perfectly, there.

This year I long for more presence to the joys of my life – my family, communities and creativity. I long to relinquish learning and taking up service.

Happy New Year to you and those you hold dear!

    XO Deirdre

Happy New Year everyone ~ My current position w/the Clinic will be ending June 30th due to grants ending. Have been here for 5 yrs and was only staying 1 year? It’s a good time to make a move. I love everything about a job search, interviews, etc. Have had many jobs in my zig zag career and I’m actually looking forward to my next landing. Blessed that I have 6 months to get busy. Additionally, a few other events hanging in the air, refinancing mortgage, health, dating, etc that I need answers to. Praying to remain focused and believe that all is well. Currently creating my 2013 Vision Board. A subject I instruct as well as Decluttering. They bring me such great joy! That’s my authentic self!

This year, I am choosing to face in the direction of courage–to look toward the words and choices that I know are true, but to utter them makes me scared. I believe that we are born with inclinations toward meaning and spirituality. I believe when we deny this truth, when we replace our craving for connection and transcendence with achievement, we feel empty and wonder what we are here for. Worst of all, our children begin to wonder too. This year, I want to speak directly about this truth, and about the practices and ideas that help me, an independent thinker, a woman who was born equal part mind and heart, who stands by all people who feel that their hearts don’t have a home in a church or synagogue or mosque–people who believe in love, unity, justice, democracy but wonder how to connect with those ideas in daily life. Tara, thank you for the inspiration. Sending love.

  • May the ever increasing circles of connection lead you to your dreams, Tara.

Thank you for sharing your inspiration so openly. I have been finishing my year in reflection for a couple of years now, and this year, my thoughts burst on to the page like this…

And as I reflected on the past and considered the possibilities that come with the beginning of a new year, I called on my Inner Wisdom to guide me. No longer needing clarity around “What’s my purpose?”, I turn my attention now to the expansion of that vision, by asking and answering this powerful question…

How will I live into my purpose to be LOVE in all that I am and all the I do?

What actions will I take each day to anchor this intention to share love with others and, just as importantly, to show love to myself?

And the answer I received is clear…

Speak boldly about the value of creative self-discovery.
Speak powerfully about the value of support.
Speak with passion about coaching, connection and community and tell the stories of the profound life changes you see experienced by the women of the Wise Well Women community every day.

    Be loud if you must.
Find a way to reach those who are waiting to hear your message of hope.
    Tell them “You are Enough.”

Stretch out of your comfort zone.
    Be Brave and be persistent.

    Engage everyone in this conversation,
knowing that the circles of connection are limitless.

Remain committed — no matter what.
And always remember, no matter what the question,
    the answer is always love.

[Special mention to the wonderful Siedah Garrett, who wrote a song by that title. You can find the full verse and the full blogpost on my site at http://wisewellwomen.com/reflections-intentions-and-a-new-years-wish-for-you%5D

May you connect to the limitless energy of love always–

This year will be about healing, acceptance and change. Finding me again, after some lost years. My focus will be on me, making myself the person I used to be, physically and mentally. Understanding it will not be easy, moving forward never knowing why, and finding a way to make the pain easier to live with. Learning to lean on others, needing their wisdom, needing their support, needing their guidance, and understanding it’s OK.

  • My intention is to be the love that I am in all that I do, in all of my relationships (with people, the environment, even with myself), and in all that I perceive. We are evolving into a heart-centered world, changing from “the love of power to the power of love.” (~Anodea Judith) Interestingly, for the past month I have been drawn to reading books that totally resonate with this intention: The Book of Love and Creation by Paul Selig and Love Without End by Glenda Green. Many blessings to all beings, now and always!

Working on self compassion and self knowledge so I can feel more content on a day to day basis and also be more kind to others in that process. This was beautiful. Thank you.

  • mamawolfe says:

This was beautiful, Tara. I love the image of the solidity of the cup…those things that are tangible, that we can hold onto, and those that are not and we must simply trust. This year feels like a transition year for me. I’ve been stepping out and pushing through for the next year, hoping that a new door will open for me in the next few years. I hope to continue to move forward. http://jenniferwolfe.net/2013/01/leaning-forward-into-the-new-year.html

I just love this poem – I think I will make it my new year’s resolution. thank-you!

  • This year there will be more joy
More time to do things as we go along
    More peace at home
    More dancing in the wind
More sun more rain and more fun
We will be free of burden
    Of fear and envy
    I feel happy and content
    Let it begin 2013

  • Maryanne says:

There was a Rothko exhibit here these past months and to me, the images were so powerful. I copied a quote from Rothko’s 1945 notebook for my wall, to inspire me in 2013 —

“I insist on the equal existence of the world engendered in the mind and the world engendered by God outside of it. The congruity between…the unconscious and the objects of everyday life…is the only sourcebook for Art.”

  • Rachael Rodriguez says:

This year will be about new beginnings, taking changes, doing things that matter, enjoying life more, and having an open heart. Thank you so much for sharing this Tara. Happy New Year to you.

  • Barbara says:

This year / Will be about opening / feeling/ snowflakes / cherry blossoms / kitten fur / crackly fall leaves beneath my feet / feeling / muscles contract / the joy of laughter / the touch /of a loving hand. / This year / will be about / seeing / all of the surprises / the awe of each day / deep into / each others’ hearts.

  • To the new year

I want you to be new, really new, this time,
no second hand acts or reused days or recycled ruts.
The year will be like a platinum penny,
A dress spun of gold and diamonds,
A flower bud opening on a time lapse loop,
A new love in slow motion.
I will unfurl you, and harvest you early, and savor every moment –
And stop doubting and censoring everything.
I will see progress, imprints in the snow, and
Unfold you like a map, and see where you have taken me this time, next year
Every second, every hour, every day, all 365 of you,
One glorious revolution around the sun.

  • Kim says:

Touching poem as always, Tara. My new year will be about really experiencing my life as the adventure it is – getting away from my laptop more and engaging with my new surroundings. All the best to you as you continue to unfurl.

  • A friend told me about Freecycling
She was given a fridge -for free
It’s the passing on of useful items we no longer want, what we don’t use anymore
    Freecycling
I am finally going to de-clutter – my house, my garage, my mind
    And pass on
    many things
    Pictures, a desk, a bicycle
    And more
    Wisdoms, strengths and peaceful thoughts

    Oh Dearest Tara,

You speak so sweetly to the heart. Today a rough day for mine, and this touched me . . . with more tears, but that’s okay, I will give them sweet tender attention and listen to the message they are bringing … as well as the precious ‘silence’ in between . . .

    Blessings to your sweet heart,
    Mahima

    Dear Tara,
Your words…oh my, they are what I long for in 2013….I’m saving the quote from you…as a reminder of what needs to be done…maybe add a bit to it also…I hope you don’t mind that I use it…
All the best to you in the year ahead…

  • Beth says:

Dear Tara, your writing is always so beautiful – expressive and natural. Many thanks for this gift.

This year is about authenticity – I am drawn to moving beyond the persona I project to the world, and towards actualizing my more creative, softer, and expressive self, opening my heart to others, and releasing expectations regarding outcomes.

May all find joy in 2013,
    Beth

Well said, Nanette. I finally have my purpose clearly in focus, too, and am ready to move forward confidently and with love, to improve people’s lives with my work! I have a great feeling of excitement about 2013!

  • Pam says:

    Nancy, that’s lovely!

  • Pam says:

Decluttering is such a great place to start, Margaret! What you keep around you is a reflection of what’s inside you. Changing your surroundings can’t help but make internal changes. If you need inspiration, Clearing Your Clutter With Feng Shui, by Karen Kingston, is a great guide!

  • Pam says:

So beautiful, Tara. I especially like, “there will be surrender to everything that curves.” 🙂

I’m feeling poised to release my brilliance on the world in 2013! I’m a “home transformer” (part organizer, part decorator/artist) and recent feng shui enthusiast. So much deep transformation can begin from making changes (small or huge) in your immediate environment—like carefully choosing the vessel that holds your tea. 🙂 So much delight can come from such small things.

  • Rebecca says:

This year I want to fully embrace, love, let go of my deepest failures and disappointments. It’s also about being open to ALL possibilities that I may not always see and giving them a chance to flourish. Imagining complete inner peace with all that is not right at the moment and yet have the courage to know this WILL all pass and be resolved.
I want to take all the blessings I have received and hold it deep within in the safest place of my heart and in return give the most love I can ever imagine unconditionally. And once and for all, find what true contentment really means.

  • ROBIN EDWARDS says:

At the tender age of 54, I have given a lot of myself for as long as I can remember. My mother died when I was 19 so I helped to raise my 16 year old sister and 9 year old brother. Then I was married for 24 years, raised two children, nursed a terminal ill husband for 3.5 years until he went to be with the Lord. I then survived a 3 year depression and awoke with a new desire to live. As if all that was not enough, I then supported my unemployed sister who had to move in with me for 2 years while she battled depression. She recently found a job after 3 years of unemployment Thank God! For 2013 I would like to see my dreams fulfilled. I want true love, and I want to marry again. I want to embrace all that life has to offer and have fun and adventure. I will always work to fulfill God’s Will in my life, but I would like to enjoy some all about Me time!!!!

  • ROBIN EDWARDS says:

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I love it!! Thanks.

  • ROBIN EDWARDS says:

    AMEN!

    Hi Tara,

This year is all about flexibility. In mind, body, spirit, choices, emotions, finances, writing, boundaries, etc. The word flexibility is my guide post for 2013.

    Best,
    Peggy

This year is about finding clarity of vision and focused direction — in my life and with my non-profit organization, Reconnecting The Circle. There is no separation between me and what I do, as everything comes from the same place. It is also about quickly moving through and removing points of paralysis and self-doubt. I believe women need to rise up and take their rightful places in this world, side-by-side with men. Whether they’re all aware of it or not, men need us to lead and contribute.

  • Thanks Pam, grt advice. M

  • This year is about finally birthing the idea and vision that I have. My whole desire is like the same of most people in that I want to impact as many lives as I can. I’ve been through good and bad and if I can help someone avoid some of the same bad then I feel like I’ve done my job. So on January 1, 2013 I launched my website and blog http://www.blessedgems.org and so far the response has humbled me on a daily basis. Let’s make this year count and by all means do something that we’ve never done before but have always wanted to do 🙂

Season 8 should be great. One way or anheotr it makes no difference if Lucas and Peyton are back for Brooke and Julians wedding. Actually, Brooke doesnt need Peyton, Haley is her best friend now and she will most likely be her maid of honor since Brooke was hers. I would like to see Dan back, Paul Johansson is great for this show!
