Two articles I am excited to share with you today:
Earlier this week, I wrote a post at Huffington Post about The Dark Side of Girls’ Success in School. Girls are now outperforming boys at every level in school. Although that seems like good news, based on my own experience in school, I’m worried about what their success might really mean. The article is about girls – but it’s also about about what we grown up women learned in school and how those lessons continue to play out in our careers. Come on over here to read it. This one is controversial – I was shakin’ in my boots a bit when I hit publish, but I stand by every word.
I want to share with you one more goodie from Huff Post this week, also a post about girls, fearlessness, and growing into womanhood. This is blogger Lindsey Mead’s first post at Huffington Post, and it’s so beautiful and moving. “10 Things I Want My Daughter to Know Before She Turns 10.” Visit Lindsey’s blog here and you will be graced by her writing as I have so often felt privileged to be.
Love,
Tara
As always Tara, you are an inspiration.
Oh Tara, you have no idea how well you just described me! Good in school, always people pleasing, doing well in average jobs, now going crazy how to get the heck off this ride. Wonderfully done!
Just stumbled upon your blog today and am so impressed! Love the messages you’re sending. Particularly great piece here.
